Dragons Forward Amir Bashti Called Up to the United States U-19 National Team
Bashti Will Be Coached By U.S. National Team Alum Brad Friedel
Dragons forward Amir Bashti has received another prestigious call up to the United States Under 19 National Team. Coached by former U.S. National Team Goalkeeper Brad Friedel, the U-19's head to Spain to compete in the 33rd International U-20 Men's COTIF Tournament. The tournament will run through August 5th, taking place in Valencia, Spain. Team USA will face Venezuela on July 26th, Mauritania on July 28th, Spain on July 29th and finish group play against Bahrain on August 1. With the 2017 U-20 World Cup quickly approaching, this tournament will be an important step in determining the final roster for who will head to South Korea next year.
Bashti is a veteran of the U.S. Youth National team system. Most recently, Amir was called in to the U-20 National Team Camp in January in Miami, Fl. In 2015, Bashti traveled with the U-20's to Serbia for the Stevan Vilotic-Cele Tournament. Amir has been limited this summer due to injury, but has made two appearances for the Dragons.
