Three Dragons Invited to MLS Combine
Wright, Nana-Sinkam, Theirjung With Chance to Shine
When the 2017 MLS Player Combine takes place in Los Angeles from Jan. 8th-12th, three Burlingame Dragons will be amongst the 53 invitees who have a chance to improve their draft status. Vermont Forward Brian Wright, California forward Christian Theirjung and Stanford defender Brian Nana-Sinkam were all honored for their standout seasons by receiving the prestigious invite on Wednesday.
A committee of MLS and NCAA Division I coaches from every conference selected the invitees, all of whom completed their college eligibility this season. Further invitees, including Generation Adidas signings, non-collegiate players and additional college seniors, will be announced in the coming weeks.
Wright, a Mac Hermann Award Semifinalist this season, had a fantastic campaign for the Catamounts. His 12 assists tied him for the NCAA Division 1 lead and his 40 points placed in 2nd in the country. He was named 2nd Team NSCAA Division 1 All-American and 1st Team NSCAA All-East Region for his efforts this season.
Theirjung was named 1st Team all NCAA Far West Region and 1st Team All Pac-12 Conference in 2016 for the Golden Bears. He finished 2nd in the Pac-12 in goals scored (9) and total points (20). The dynamic forward was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.
Nana-Sinkam captained the Cardinal to their second consecutive NCAA title this season. The physical and cerebral defender was named 1st Team All Pac-12 in 2016. He was also named to the 2016 NSCAA All-Far West Region Second Team, named a 2016 Senior CLASS Award Second Team All-American and was awarded a 2016 Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention award
