Dragons FC Defeat Fresno 1-0 in PDL Opener
Winner from Jamael Cox Propels the Dragons to a Huge Road Victory
The Burlingame Dragons started off their season on a high with a 1-0 win against Fresno Fuego in Chukchansi Park. The game started off with neither team really able to create many good chances. As the first half went on the Dragons started possessing the ball with a little more purpose, and in the 36th minute Armando Garcia saw the ball drop to him in the box, but was unable to take his chance, putting his shot just wide. Just a few minutes later, Dragons were able to carve out another opportunity, this time through left back Nick Lima, who dribbled his way through the Fuego back line but saw his shot saved by the goalkeeper.
In the second half the Dragons started out on the front foot, and eventually the pressure paid off as midfielder Gabe Silveira dribbled past a Fuego defender and slipped a perfectly weighted through ball to Jamael Cox who slotted past the keeper beautifully. The game got tougher for the Dragons in the 60th minute, when Silveira saw red after a scuffle in midfield. The Dragons back line held strong however, and they were able to walk away from their first league game with all 3 points.
The Dragons continue their season on Sunday against LA Laguna in LA at 5:30pm. Follow us on Twitter for updates, there will be no live video feed.
