Joe Cannon Hired as Head Coach of the Burlingame Dragons FC

The Burlingame Dragons are proud to announce the hiring of Joe Cannon as head coach. The local soccer legend and San Jose Earthquakes Hall of Famer had an illustrious playing career in Major League Soccer, twice being named MLS Goalkeeper of the year. Joe was selected four times for the MLS All Star team and was an All-American at Santa Clara University. Alongside U.S. National Team Legend Landon Donovan, Joe won the 2001 MLS Cup with the San Jose Earthquakes.

Joe has multiple caps for the U.S. National Team, playing under World Cup coaches Bruce Arena and Bob Bradley. Joe has also played alongside several national team legends throughout his career including Kasey Keller, Chris Wondolowski, Tim Howard, and current Quakes Technical Director Chris Leitch.

He has experienced success at every level, and has a proven ability to develop players into world class soccer players. Joe has strong ties to youth development in the Bay Area. He is currently the Executive Director for the Mountain View Los Altos Soccer Club and has been involved with the San Jose Earthquakes for the past several years.

The Burlingame Dragons FC continue to build off their success as one of the top development clubs in the United States, with six players drafted in the MLS SuperDraft in the last two seasons. Current starters Nick Lima (San Jose Earthquakes), Joshua Smith (New England Revolution) highlight a long list of Dragons playing professionally at home and abroad. The current Dragons roster is also stocked with future professionals, including youth U.S. national team members J.T. Marcinkowski and Amir Bashti.
