Burlingame Dragons FC Re-Sign Stanford Star Brian Nana-Sinkam
National Championship Winning Defender Brings Speed, Steel to Dragons Defense
The Burlingame Dragons Football Club is proud to announce the signing of another talented defensive player in Stanford defender and former Dragon Brian Nana-Sinkam. The versatile defender just completed his junior season in Palo Alto and becomes the 19th player to be announced this offseason for the Dragons.
Last season, the Lilitz, PA native played for the Dragons in 4 PDL games in which he played both center and outside back for the organization. His versatility played big dividends as he seamlessly slotted into the Dragons defense helping them in their bid to capture their 1st Southwestern Division Championship. His stellar play at the back allowed the Dragons attackers more freedom in the offensive half of the pitch.
The 5’11, 180 lb. defender showed that he has the size and speed to handle the highest levels of play during his run to the NCAA Championship this season. He startedall 23 games at center back for the Cardinal leading the Stanford defense to surrender only 15 goals on the season, its lowest total since 2001. The Cardinal would go on to finish 6th nationally in goals against average, giving up only 0.62 goals per game in 2015. Nana-Sinkam was named as Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention for the past two seasons
In his three seasons at Stanford, Nana-Sinkam has played in 49 games, scoring one goal. His stay-at-home play and his presence on the field provide the stability at the back that the Dragons will need to have hope of repeating as Division champs this season.
