Burlingame Dragons FC Lose Season Opener 4-0 to Fresno Fuego
The Burlingame Dragons opened the 2017 PDL season with a 4-0 defeat at the hands of the Fresno Fuego at Chukchansi Park in Fresno, CA.
Fresno jumped out to an early lead with goals in the 4th and 10th minutes to take a 2-0 advantage. The Dragons had several opportunities to cut into the lead shortly after, with Eli Padilla and Gabe Silveira both testing the Fresno backline. However, the Fuego would pick up a 3rd goal before the half to extend their lead. The young Dragons squad improved in the 2nd half, but ultimately fell by a final score of 4-0.
With several new player signings on the horizon, the Dragons bounce back Wednesday at 3pm in the U.S. Open Cup versus El Farolito. League play resumes next weekend against bitter rivals San Francisco City on May 13, and the home opener versus Fresno on May 14.
