Burlingame Dragons FC Sign Panamanian U-20 National Team Star Romario Piggott
Piggott has experience with Chepo & Tauro in Panama's First Division
The Burlingame Dragons Football Club is elated to announce the signing of Panamanian international midfielder Romario Piggott for the 2016 Premier Development League season. Piggott’s signing brings the total to 27 players who have officially been announced as members of the Dragons this season.
Piggott has been part of the Panamanian National Team’s player pool since he played with the U-17’s in the U-17 CONCACAF Qualifiers and the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2011. He is a veteran of two Under-20 Men’s National Team tournaments as he participated in the U-20 Central American Cup and the U-20 CONCACAF qualifiers in 2013. In the U-20 CONCACAF qualifiers, Piggott made three appearances, scoring one goal in a 4-0 victory against Jamaica.
The 5’11, 165 lb. Piggott has played five seasons in the Liga Panamena de Futbol, Panama’s top professional league. The talented midfielder played three seasons for Chepo and two seasons for Tauro amassing 73 appearances over the five seasons with the most recent being five appearances for Tauro in 2015-2016. In those 73 appearances, he scored four goals while playing multiple positions from midfield to wing.
Last season, Piggott came to the United States and went to school in Indiana seeking to obtain a higher education and eventually a college degree. He enrolled at small Ancilla College in Donaldson, IN, a junior college where Piggott was asked to play on the school’s soccer team. He obliged and played in 12 games for the Chargers, scoring five goals and notching five assists for 15 points on the season. While averaging more than a point a game, Piggott led the Chargers to a 13-3-1 record and a deep run in the MCCAA playoffs. For his efforts, Piggott was named Region XII First Team All-Region, All-Michigan Community College Athletic Association First Team, and to the Region XII All-Tournament Team.
