Dragons Defeat Fresno 3-2 in Thrilling Fashion, Head to the Western Conference Finals

Dragons Travel to Tucson, AZ to face FC Tucson on Friday Night in the Round of 16

The Burlingame Dragons came into Tuesday night's crucial first round playoff match with plenty of confidence. After having twice beaten the Fresno Fuego during the regular season, the Dragons saw no reason they couldn't beat the Fuego again with the stakes at their highest. In thrilling fashion, and after 30 minutes of overtime, the Dragons defeated the Fresno Fuego 3-2. With the historic win, the Dragons travel to Tucson for the PDL's Western Conference Finals. 

Fresno took an early lead in the 30th minute with a goal from league leading scorer Christian Chaney. The Dragons quickly countered with two goals at the end of the first half to take a 2-1 lead. Goals were scored by Corey Baird & Khalid Arramdani. The Dragons held the 2-1 advantage until 88th minute when Fresno scored off a corner kick to level the match. The game then headed into overtime, where the Dragons controlled much of the play. In the 97th minute, Corey Baird setup Christian Thierjung for the eventual winner as the Dragons won 3-2.

The Dragons now move on to the Round of 16 in the USL PDL Playoffs. Friday's opponent is FC Tucson, kickoff is set for 8PM at the Kino North Sports Complex in Tucson. If the Dragons win, they will face either FC Golden State or Calgary Foothills FC in the Western Conference Championship. The PDL National Championship is set for the weekend of August 5th.
