Dragons FC Sign Jose Ramirez & Gerardo Cazares

Two CSU Stanislaus Stars Add Offensive Punch for 2016 PDL Season

Today, the Burlingame Dragons Football Club announced the signings of forward Jose Ramirez and midfielder Gerardo Cazares for the 2016 Premier Development League season. Both players concluded their collegiate careers this year at Cal State Stanislaus, where they played for former Dragons head coach Dana Taylor.

Ramirez had a fantastic season for the Warriors as he played in 21 games and found the back of the net 11 times, five of which were game winning goals. The 5’11, 175 lb. forward’s 11 goals tied him for the team lead as he led his team to 15-4-3 record and an NCAA West Region Tournament appearance. His vision and deft touch also saw him contribute five assists for a total of 26 points this past season. He leaves Stanislaus as the school’s all time lead scorer in the Division II era.

Ramirez efforts saw him named to the Conference Commissioners Association All-West Region Team and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-West Region 2nd Team.

Cazares was the force behind some terrific midfield play for the Warriors, as he scored two goals and notched 10 assists in 22 games this season. During his four years in Turlock, his play improved every season as he finished with 21 points in 67 games.

His steady and inventive play in the center of the pitch was rewarded at the end of the season as he was named to the Conference Commissioners Association All-West Region 2nd team.
