The Burlingame Dragons Football Club held their 2nd Annual Open Tryout on Saturday at Wunderlich Field on the campus of Menlo College in Atherton, California. More than 70 players auditioned in front of the coaching staff and front office ranging from the age of 16 into their mid-30’s. The quality of play was high and it made for an exciting day according to Dragons Head Coach Eric Bucchere.

“The level of play at the tryout is a credit to the talent pool in the Bay Area, it was a really competitive day,” Bucchere said.

Several of the Dragons from the 2015 roster were on hand and played throughout the day including forward Khalid Arramdani, midfielder Manny Cazares and defenders Kyle Cadigan and Armando Garcia. The attendee’s were given the opportunity to play in 60-minute games, giving them an opportunity to show the staff their skill sets. By seeing them in actual game action, Bucchere believes that the staff on hand gathered a good idea of the talent that these players possess.

“We selected a small number of guys that we will bring out this preseason for another look,” Bucchere said. “I think there may be a few surprises in that group.”

Now that the 2016 Dragons Open Tryouts are over, the Dragons continue their preseason preparations and will travel to Sacramento on Wednesday for a preseason matchup with the United Soccer League’s, Sacramento Republic FC. The Dragons began their preseason last Wednesday when they defeated the San Jose Earthquakes U-18 team 1-0 at Vista Montana Park in San Jose.
