Dragons FC Sign Gabe Silveira & Matt Wiesenfarth for 2016 PDL Season
Two Attackers Provide Added Punch to Burlingame's Strike Force
The Burlingame Dragons Football Club is proud to announce the return of midfielder Gabe Silveira and the addition of forward Matt Wiesenfarth for the upcoming 2016 Premier Development League season. Silveira and Wiesenfarth bring the number of announced signings to 14 for the Dragons this spring.
Silveira played in only two games for the Dragons last season, missing much of the season due to a torn hamstring injury. The shifty midfielder has a knack for being able to dribble his way through danger and carve open opponents with skillful passing displays. He returned for the Dragons PDL playoff campaign, helping the Dragons reach the PDL Western Conference Final Four in their first season.
The 5’9, 160 lb. attacking midfielder played his collegiate soccer at Sacramento State. His career as a Hornet was steady as he scored nine goals and eight assists over a 59-game span between 2010 and 2014. The Corte Madera, CA native is happy to be healthy and is ready to help the Green and Black defend their title this season.
Wiesenfarth is new to the organization this season after completing his collegiate career at UC Davis in 2015. Throughout his career, Wiesenfarth has been a poacher, finding himself at the right place at the right time in front of goal to become a productive scorer. His career took a slight detour as his senior season was shortened due to a torn ACL injury. He came back and completed his Redshirt Senior season in 2015 scoring four goals and notching three assists. The industrious forward played in 86 games between the 2011 and 2015 seasons, scoring 17 goals while collecting eight assists.
The 5’11, 175 forward was named to the Big West Conference All 2nd Team this past season. The Sacramento, CA native finished his career as UC Davis’ all time leader in games played, tied for 1st in career game winning goals and tied for 2nd all-time in goals scored.
